Teaching & Research


Communique As an emeritus Professor of Practice at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Charles is engaged with students as a team mentor for fall semester. The student project involves the rehabilitation of the historic San Damiano Friary in Monona, WI. The project will transform the property into a sustainable community-based activity center.

Awards


  • The Madison Trust for Historic Preservation awarded the First Unitarian Society Meeting House Roof and Prow project a 2020 Preservation Award. Charles was the Preservation Architect for the project.

  • Mr. Quagliana was awarded the 2019 James G. Woodburn Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching by the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering.

  • The rehabilitation of the Madison Municipal Building received the 2019 Restoration Award from the Madison Trust for Historic Preservation.

Appointments


Charles serves on the Board for the Madison Trust for Historic Preservation, The Wisconsin Heights Community Gardens and is a member of the Taliesin Preservation Historic Preservation Committee.
